TSMC Founder Morris Chang to Release Second Volume of His Autobiography in November
Morris Chang, founder of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), confirmed on October 4 that the second volume of his autobiography will be released in late November.
“If you're interested, go pick up a copy,” Chang told reporters at the Taiwan Contribution Award ceremony in Taipei.
The first volume of his autobiography, covering 1931 to 1964, was published 26 years ago and is now out of print. However, it will be republished with the second volume on November 29. The second volume will cover 1964 to 2018, chronicling Chang’s journey from an engineer to one of the most influential figures in global corporate leadership.
Before founding TSMC, Chang spent 25 years at Texas Instruments (TI), where he rapidly advanced through the ranks, ultimately becoming general manager of the company’s global semiconductor group. Chang once described his early career at TI as a realization of the American Dream, but as the company underwent organizational changes, his career faced setbacks, leading him to depart. Reflecting on his journey, Chang emphasized that these experiences provided valuable lessons that proved essential when founding TSMC.
The second volume of Chang's autobiography is highly anticipated, as it promises to offer personal insights and untold stories about how TSMC navigated numerous challenges to emerge as the world leader in semiconductor foundry services, pioneering advanced-node manufacturing.
