From a Personal Digest to a Shared Platform: Why TechSoda Exists—and Where We’re Heading Next
This is an annual Letter from the founder to thank you for being part of this journey, and we are just getting started.
Before founding TechSoda, I began by curating daily news digests as a personal project. Over time, however, I realized that while individual curation could inform, it wasn’t enough to build a platform—one that allows more talented people to participate, collaborate, and shine in their own ways.
That realization led to the birth of TechSoda.
TechSoda was created to lower the barrier for readers without STEM backgrounds to stay informed about technology—especially emerging trends in semiconductors, optoelectronics, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence (AI). Our goal has always been to make complex developments more accessible, contextual, and relevant.
On the business side, we aim to help startups and companies connect with potential customers, partners, and investors—whether overseas or in Taiwan—so that stronger networks and more meaningful innovation can take shape.
A Year of Gratitude and Validation
Looking back, 2025 has been a year of deep gratitude.
It is especially encouraging to see companies interviewed by TechSoda getting their deserved attention and connecting to the right R&D and supply chain partners or investors. We received customers’ notes saying our reports have helped their B2B forums be a success.
Where once people attended large exhibitions without clear direction, they now arrive with targeted interests and concrete goals.
In that sense, our work has helped reduce transaction costs on both sides—not only financial costs, but also the time and effort spent searching for the right partners in unfamiliar markets.
The People Who Make TechSoda More Than a Platform
None of this would be possible without the people who chose to build with us. My heartfelt thanks go to Jenny W. Hsu — former Wall Street Journal reporter and Global PR Manager of Alibaba, and now Head Creator and Co-Founder of Day 2 Studios —who launched the Beyond the Deck column on TechSoda. Through it, she has sparked thoughtful discussions on startup communication strategies, leadership decisions, and the actions required to stay ahead.
I’m also grateful to Angela Lau, who later joined to contribute insights on emotional intelligence in management and leadership, helping our readers recognize a critical—but often overlooked—dimension of effective leadership. More recently, Adrian de Courcey, a non-executive director and corporate consultant, has begun contributing to Beyond the Deck, further enriching the column with practical, board-level perspectives.
We owe thanks to friends and fellow writers who recommended TechSoda to their readers, including Semiecosystem, SemiVision, Tech Taiwan 胡說科技, AI Supremacy, .… etc. And our appreciation also goes to friends who have given us lots of support, including introducing new customers to us and encouraging us to try new things to grow the ecosystem.
Building While Bootstrapping
Because TechSoda has been bootstrapped from day one, much of my time this year has been spent on client service and outsourced projects. Thank you, all of our customers and clients, for your support and trust.
Nevertheless, busy schedules have made it nearly impossible for me to keep pace with every news cycle, let alone manage both English and Mandarin platforms alone. I also want to express appreciation to all paid subscribers and sponsors who support us in producing quality content, nonetheless.
I’m thankful that Andrew Wang, our digital health correspondent, and Cherry Chu, our STEM-background intern who will continue bringing thoughtful reporting and curated Mandarin news digests to our readers.
Looking Ahead to 2026
We are deeply grateful to every subscriber, client, and customer who has supported TechSoda on this journey. In 2026, we will embark on new collaborations and projects to deepen our relationships with partners and deliver even greater value.
I’m also excited to share that Katharine Wang, who brings years of experience as a Centurion project manager at American Express, will be joining TechSoda as Chief Business Officer. She will help enrich our clients’ experience and bring them closer to their potential customers, partners, and markets.
Now, about what’s new in 2026:
A tri-party content cooperation (details TBA) for in-depth analysis
Profiles - Exclusive interviews with outstanding thought leaders who excel in their respective fields.
More person-to-person events
TechSoda began as a personal experiment, but it is becoming something much larger—a shared space where technology, business, and people intersect. As we move into 2026, our focus remains the same: to connect the right stories with the right audiences, and the right companies with the right partners.
Stay tuned. Thank you for being part of this journey. We’re just getting started.

A belated congrats Judy, on building TechSoda from the ground up and shining a spotlight on many up and coming startups that would otherwise escape mainstream media’s attention. Honoured to be a part of Beyond the Deck and really excited to see what we achieve in 2026! 👏👏
